Our story

The Beginning of Mariposa Grove Creekside Retreat:

Yosemite National Park was the first national park I'd ever visited with my sons, Eric and Tim. Our goal is to visit them all, but the allure of Yosemite drew us back to the lot on which our house is standing. What started as a piece of land on which many had told us was unbuildable, we began what seemed the impossible. Eric worked to blast away at the granite to make way for the driveway. We all spent our share of nights sleeping on the floor as the house was being constructed, doing some of the work on our own. Waking up a bit stiff and cold was always refreshing and reinvigorating, knowing we were working to build our dream in what we consider to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. It is our hope you and your family have the same experience we've had enjoying the outdoors together, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

The Experience that Led to Our Mission:

Volunteer Search and Rescue teams mean everything to us. It was in 2019 that Eric was rescued after being missing for five days in the San Bernardino Mountains. With every stay at Mariposa Grove Creekside Retreat, a donation is made to Hopeful Heights, a nonprofit organization that supports volunteer Search and Rescue teams. The time committed by these volunteers includes hours away from their families to continuously train and go out on search and rescue callouts.
